(Hastings, Nebraska) The Cross Country and Track and Field teams announced a couple of coaching role changes for the upcoming season. Ryan Mahoney will transition to Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, while Zac Osgood has been promoted to Head Track and Field Coach.
"We are very excited for Zac to take on this leadership role with the Track and Field programs. He has been a valuable piece of the Hastings College culture both as a coach and as a person," Athletic Director Chris Clements said.
The change comes on the heels of the announcement of the track renovations that will begin in August at the Jack Osborne Track Complex.
"Obviously, we're very excited for the update to our outdoor track and field facility. It has been a few years since we've been able to have a home track meet, and I know our athletes will be excited about being able to compete on campus again. Otherwise, just like every year I'm excited to get the athletes back on campus and get to work," Osgood said.
The cross country season is scheduled to have their first meet on Sept. 6 at the Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, SD, with the indoor track season likely starting in early December.
"I've been part of Hastings College Track and Field as an athlete or coach for the last 25 years. As a coach my focus has always been on doing my best to help each athlete maximize their potential, and that will continue to be my goal as head coach. I love Hastings College Track and Field and am excited for this year and the years to come," Osgood said.
