Women's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Over Knights
(Minneapolis, NE) – The women's tennis team grew their win streak to four with a 6-1 win over the Martin Luther College Knights in their first of two spring break matches in Minnesota.
Hastings took the doubles point to go up 1-0 with a 6-2 win by the #3 doubles team of sophomore Josline Carter and freshman Kayleigh Cetak, and a 6-4 win by the #2 doubles team of freshman Lexi Benson and Paige Willcoxon. Martin Luther managed to win the #1 doubles match, 6-2.
The Broncos continued their winning ways by winning five of the six singles matches, with their lone loss coming in a 6-3, 6-0 loss at #4 singles. Carter won all but three games at #1 singles and sophomore Victoria Harris won 12 of her 13 games at #2 singles to go up 3-0 in the match.
Freshman Cara Ansbach picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at #3 singles to clinch the match Benson cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win at #5 singles. Sophomore Abby Harveson stepped in at #6 singles and pulled out an 11-9 first set tiebreak to take the first set, then won the second set, 6-2, as Hastings won, 6-1.
Hastings will conclude its Minnesota spring break trip with a match against Crown College on Friday, Mar. 14 at 4pm.
