Women's Tennis Defeats Flames, 5-2
(Omaha, NE) – The Hastings Broncos got their second conference win on Saturday, moving to 2-2 with a win over College of Saint Mary.
Hastings began with a 1-0 lead and one doubles win away from a point as the Flames only had five players able to play. Sophomores Josline Carter and Victoria Harris defeated the Flames 6-3 at #1 doubles to clinch the point despite the Flames winning at #2 doubles.
Harris dominated her #2 singles match, winning all 12 games. Freshman Lexi Benson won at #5 singles 6-0, 6-2 and freshman Cara Ansbach won at #4 singles by a similar score of 6-1, 6-2 to wrap up the five-point scoring day for the Broncos.
Carter bounced back from a first set loss by winning the second set at #1 singles, but fell in a tight 11-9 third set super-tiebreak. The Flames won the #3 singles match as well to make it a 5-2 final.
