Broncos Compete at Annual Fall GPAC Invite
(Lincoln, NE) – The Bronco women's tennis team traveled to Lincoln to take part in the annual Fall GPAC Invite on Friday and Saturday.
In the 'A' doubles section, sophomores Josline Carter and Victoria Harris defeated Mount Marty 6-2 in the round of 16, then knocked off Concordia 6-3 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they fell 6-4 to Morningside. In the 'B' doubles section, junior Paige Willcoxon and freshman Cara Ansbach won their round of 16 match 6-0 over Saint Mary, before falling 6-3 in their quarterfinal match to Mount Marty.
In the 'C' doubles section, freshmen Lexi Benson and Reese Beyrouty beat Northwestern 6-4 in the round of 16, then defeated Concordia 6-2 in the quarterfinals. They continued their momentum by defeating Concordia 6-0 in the semifinals, before falling 6-4 in the finals to Morningside.
In the 'A' Singles section, Carter lost 9-7 to Northwestern in the round of 32, then won her second match 6-2 in the consolation quarterfinals. Harris lost 8-5 in the round of 32, then won her second match 6-0 In the consolation quarterfinals.
In the 'B' singles section, Willcoxon received a bye in the round of 32, then lost 8-3 to Saint Mary in the round of 16 in her lone singles match. Ansbach also received a bye in the round of 32, then lost 8-3 to Mount Marty in the round of 16. She lost 6-2 in the consolation quarterfinals to Doane.
In the 'C' singles section, Benson received a bye in the round of 32, then lost 8-2 to Morningside in the round of 16. She lost 6-4 to Doane in the consolation quarterfinals. Beyrouty also received a bye in the round of 32, then won 9-7 over Concordia in the round of 16. She lost 8-1 to Concordia in the quarterfinals. In the 'D' singles section, freshman Mia Short received a bye in the round of 32, then lost her lone singles match 8-4 to Concordia.
The Broncos will be back in action at the Bronco Invite in Hastings on Friday, Oct. 4 and 5.
