Men's Track and Field Competes in Wichita and Seward

(Wichita, KS & Seward, NE) - The track and field team also headed to Friends University to compete at the Friends University Spring Invitational on Wednesday through Friday. They also traveled to the Concordia Invite to compete on Saturday. 

On Wednesday in the men's 800m race, junior Tyler Salter placed third with a time of 1:55.18, junior Deshawn Burks placed fourth with a time of 1:58.12, freshman Parker Graves placed eighth with a time of 1:59.50, and freshman Evan Struss placed ninth with a time of 1:59.57. Freshman Rayne Chavez-Major placed eighth in the 400m race with a time of 51.54. In the men's 400m hurdles, sophomore Zane Eggleston placed seventh with a time of 57.95. 

On Thursday, in the men's decathlon, sophomore Rafer Severson placed second with a mark of 6017. In the decathlon 100m, Severson placed fourth with a time of 11.40 and he placed first in the decathlon long jump with a mark of 6.54m. In the decathlon shot put, Severson placed third with a mark of 10.72m and in the high jump, he placed sixth with a mark of 1.76m. Severson placed second in the 400m decathlon with a time of 51.82. 

On Friday in the decathlon 110m hurdles, Severson placed sixth with a time of 18.15 and in the decathlon discus, he placed first with a mark of 3.44m. In the decathlon pole vault, Severson placed second with a jump of 4.05m and in the decathlon javelin throw, he placed second with a throw of 39.44m. In the men's decathlon 1500m, Severson placed first with a time of 4:50.89. 

In the 5000m race walk on Saturday, junior Sam Wise placed second with a time of 27:41.57. 

In the field events on Saturday, in the men's discus, freshman Jorge Vazquez placed second with a throw of 46.00m. Also placing in the event were sophomore Titus Glanz (37.63m), senior Evan Morara (35.04m), and senior Payton Lane, who threw 32.57m. Lane also placed seventh in the hammer throw with 44.00m

Freshman Trey Parriott placed fifth with a throw of 13.47m. Parriott also placed ninth in the hammer throw with a 42.49m throw. In the javelin throw junior Edward Pallotto placed fifth with a throw of 49.11m. Morara placed eighth with (46.93m), along with junior Markus Vigil (35.90m) at 14th in the event. 

In the shot put, Vazquez claimed 11th with a throw of 12.30m. Morara placed 12th with (12.10m). Also placing in the event was Glanz with an 11.51m throw. 

In the long jump, freshman Cody Defeo claimed eighth with a jump of 3.68m. In the 800m race, junior Derek Trompke placed 13th with a time of 2:19.40. 

The Broncos head to Crete, NE to compete at the Doane Outdoor Invite on Tuesday, April 8 at 12pm.
