Men's T&F Earns Five Top 3 Finishes at Kearney
(Kearney, NE) – The men's indoor track and field team returned to Kearney to compete at the Charlie Foster Classic on Friday.
In the 800m, junior Tyler Salter continued to impress, missing out on first by less than a second to finish second with an A-Standard time of 1:54.89. Senior Tatum Jelleberg was eighth in the event (2:03.28). In the 1000m, junior Deshawn Burks took second (2:37.94) and freshman Evan Struss placed fourth (2:39.56).
Senior Brady Creech took second in his first competition of the year in the high jump, topping out at 6'4.25". Also in the high jump, freshman Spencer Hille was fifth (6'0.50"), junior Markus Vigil finished sixth (5'10.50"), and junior Chance Elwood took seventh (5'10.50").
In the long jump, Elwood led Hastings with a top leap of 20'10.75" to take third. Freshman Cody Defeo was fifth (20'08.00"), freshman Rayne Chavez-Major took sixth (20'07.75"), and Hille took seventh (20'05.75").
In the shot put, freshman Jorge Vazquez had a great day with a third-place performance throw of 46'02.00". Senior Evan Morara was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 44'06.00", while freshman Trey Parriott finished 13th (41'07.00") in the event.
In the 400m run, freshman Zane Eggleston placed fourth (53.01) and freshman Tyler March was sixth (59.33). Also in the 800m, freshman Parker Graves was 10th (2:04.63), and junior Derek Trompke was 16th (2:21.71).
Chavez-Major placed fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.74. Also in the 200m, sophomore Noah Hudnall finished seventh (24.33) and freshman Adrian Lobeda was 11th (24.82).
In the weight throw, senior Payton Lane was fifth with a throw of 51'09.00", while freshman Parriott took 14th (41'05.75") and junior Edward Pallotto placed 17th with a throw of 39'10.75".
Up next, Hastings will travel back to Seward, NE on Friday, Feb. 7 to compete in the Concordia Indoor at 12pm.
