
Women's Track Begins Outdoor Season in San Diego
(San Diego, CA) – The women's track and field team made their outdoor debut at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Zailee Poulson had a strong performance in the high jump, placing third with a top jump of 5'01.00". Freshman Lucy Carey also had a top 10 performance by placing ninth in the 400m hurdles (1:07.05).
Poulson also competed in the javelin and took 15th (85'03.00"). Freshman Kamerin Turner and Carey took part in the javelin event as well, taking 23rd (72'01.00") and 24th (69'05.00"), respectively. Turner also finished 22nd in the long jump (15'05.00").
Turner took 38th in the 100m dash and senior Cecilia Velarde was 34th in the 800m run (2:29.15). Senior Shania Santos placed 40th in the 1500m (5:23.64), followed by freshman Destini Johnson (6:15.64).
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, NE on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 1pm.
