Rowe Wins 60m Hurdles at Charlie Foster Classic

(Seward, NE) – The women's indoor track and field team returned to Kearney to compete at the Charlie Foster Classic on Friday.

Sophomore Jaida Rowe dominated the 60m hurdles by taking first with a time of 9.00, which was .35 seconds faster than second-place Dodge City Community College. Rowe later took second in the 400m dash, clocking in at 59.09. 

Freshman Kamerin Turner had a great day competing by taking second in the 200m dash (28.28), having the third best long jump at 16'5.25", and she ran a terrific race in the 60m dash to take fourth with a time of 8.37.

Sophomore Whitney Cure added another Hastings top three finish in the 600y, taking third with a time of 1:39.79. Junior Kathryn Columbus also competed in the 60m race, taking seventh (10.75), as well as fifth in the 200m (31.43). 

In the throwing events, junior Kylee Hasselmann had another standout performance in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a top throw of 50'00.75". Junior Trinity Doublin finished in fourth place in the triple jump (33'08.00"). Junior Melissa Hines competed in the high jump, taking seventh (4'09.75").

In the 800, senior Cecilia Velarde placed seventh with a time of 2:31.31 and senior Cynthia Chaparro-Belloc took 10th in the race with a time of 2:35.11.

Up next, Hastings will travel back to Seward, NE on Friday, Feb. 7 to compete in the Concordia Indoor at 12pm.
