Women's Track and Field Results from Dutcher Memorial and Kansas Relays

(Crete, NE & Lawrence. KS) - The Lady Broncos went to Doane on Wednesday through Friday to compete at the John Green Combined Events, as well as the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS on Thursday and Friday. 

Starting with the John Green heptathlon, freshman Lucy Carey participated, taking third overall. In the 800m, she placed third with a time of 2:31.46. In the 100m hurdles, she placed third with a time of 15.41. In the shot put, she placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 9.63. in the long jump she placed fifth with 5.00m and in the 200m, she took fifth with a time of 27.07. In the high jump, she took eighth with a jump of 1.45m and in the javelin throw, she took ninth with a 26.59m throw.  

Senior Zailee Poulson also competed in the heptathlon and took seventh in the event. Her best event was in the high jump at 1.63 to take first. She was also fifth in the javelin (28.50m), seventh in the 100m hurdles (16.55), eighth in the long jump (4.75m), 10th in the 200m (28.34), 11th in the shot put (8.20), and 12th in the 800m (2:53.44).

In the Thursday field events, junior Kylee Hasselmann placed fifth in the hammer throw with a 47.40m throw. In the javelin throw, freshman Ellie Lloyd took fifth with 37.98m and freshman Kamerin Turner placed 16th with 29.62m. Turner also placed ninth in the long jump with a jump of 4.72m. 

In the Jim Dutcher Friday field events, Poulson placed fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.51m. Also placing in the event was junior Melissa Hines placed fifth with 1.51m. In the discus, Lloyd also placed 21st with a throw of 31.63m. 

Moving to the running events, in the 400m, Turner placed 10th with a time of 1:06.08. Freshman Ava Reese also took 11th in the event with 1:07.74. In the 100m hurdles, junior Kathryn Columbus placed sixth with a time of 18.71. In the 10000m, junior Ava Brackhan placed seventh with 46:00.28.

In the 800m, senior Cecilia Velarde took second place with a time of 2:28.65. Also placing in the event was senior Cynthia Chaparro-Belloc, who took fifth with 2:33.19. Sophomore Whitney Cure took seventh (2:33.40), sophomore Grace Dow placed eighth (2:35.57), and sophomore Danielle Hoer placed 11th (2:37.16). 

At the Kansas Relays, junior Jaida Rowe placed 12th in the 400m hurdles with a B-Standard time of 1:02.44. She was 0.62 seconds away from qualifying for finals. 

The team goes to Lincoln, NE next to compete at the NWU Prairie Wolf Invite on April 24th.
