Women's Track and Field Open Indoor Season at Kearney
(Kearney, NE) – The Hastings indoor women's track and field team competed at their first event of the year at the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic on Friday.
Junior Jaida Rowe was terriefic in the 60m hurdles, taking first with a time of 9.11. Freshman Ava Reese performed well in the 60m dash, taking second place with a time of 8.11, then took fifth in the 400m (1:07.85) and sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.79). Fellow freshman Lucy Carey also put together a second place finish in the 200m (27.96) and fourth place finish in the 60m hurdles (9.65).
Senior Shania Santos ran a great race in the mile to take second place with a time of 5:56.90. Freshman Kamerin Turner also participated in the 60m by placing sixth (8.38).
In the field events, senior Zailee Poulson was third in the high jump with a top leap of 5'1.75". Junior Trinity Doublin placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 33'10.34", then she placed fifth in the long jump (15'9.75") and Turner finished in seventh (15'5.50").
Over in the throwing events, junior Kylee Hasselmann was fifth in the weight throw (51'5.34") and 11th in the shot put (32'11.75).
The Broncos will compete next at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic in Crete, NE on Saturday, Jan. 11.
