Women's Indoor Track and Field Results from Concordia
(Seward, NE) – The women's indoor track and field team returned to Seward to compete at the Concordia Classic on Saturday.
Hastings performed well in the 3000m race walk, as junior Ava Brackhan took second in the event with a personal best time of 18:04.66 for her second consecutive B-Standard time. Senior Shania Santos took third with a time of 19:02.05 and freshman Destini Johnson was fourth with a time of 21:36.68.
In the throwing events, junior Kylee Hasselmann had a great performance in the weight throw, finishing second with a top throw of 49'11.25".
Sophomore Jaida Rowe qualified for the 60m hurdle finals by taking third (9.90) in the prelims. In the finals of the 60m hurdles, Rowe took third place with a time of 8.99, then took second in the 400m (59.60), just over a second behind first place. Also in the 400m, freshman Lucy Carey was seventh (1:03.02).
Senior Zailee Poulson finished in seventh place in the high jump, tying for the best jump at 5'01.00" in the event. Junior Melissa Hines also participated in the high jump, taking 16th (4'09.00"), while Carey was 20th (4'09.00").
Senior Cecilia Velarde had a solid performance in the 800m run, placing sixth with a time of 2:33.67 and Santos took 11th in the race with a time of 2:38.85. Sophomore Whitney Cure also placed 13th in the 800m (2:40.30). Brackhan also competed in the 3000m run, taking 22nd (12:49.68).
Senior Cynthia Chaparro-Belloc clocked in with a time of 5:48.09 to take 24th in the mile. Junior Trinity Doublin finished in tenth place in the triple jump (34'01.25"). Freshman Kamerin Turner placed 13th in the long jump, finishing with a best jump of 16'01.75", while Doublin was 21st (15'06.00").
Up next, Hastings will travel to Kearney, NE on Friday, Jan. 31 to compete in the Charlie Foster Classic at 2pm.
