
Women's Track and Field Competes at Last Chance Invites
(Seward, NE & Kearney, NE) - The women's track and field team traveled to Seward, NE to compete at the Concordia Twilight Last Chance this Friday. On Saturday they also traveled to Kearney, NE for the Loper Last Chance.
On Friday in the heptathlon, freshman Lucy Carey claimed second place with 4309 points overall. She placed first in the 100m hept. (15.27) and in the 200m hept. (26.53). The result was a season-best and put her at #16 in the NAIA with the top 16 moving on to Nationals, though later dropped to 17th during the weekend.
In the 400m hurdles, junior Jaida Rowe got third place with an A-Standard time of 1:00.72, which is the second best time in school history and fourth this year in the NAIA. In the 5000m race walk, junior Ava Brackhan placed first with a time of 31.17.76.
In the hammer throw, junior Kylee Hasselmann took second with a throw of 50.72 and in the javelin throw, freshman Ellie Lloyd claimed fifth with 34.88m.
On Saturday in the hammer throw, Hasselmann placed fourth with a throw of 50.82m, just .13m from a qualifying mark to nationals.
Next, the Lady Broncos head to the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Marion, on May 21st through the 23rd at 1:00pm. Rowe has qualified to compete in the 400m hurdles.
