
Shotgun Sports Finishes 3rd at Bulldog Invitational
(Brainard, NE) – The Hastings shotgun sports team continued their strong start to the spring semester, taking third out of nine teams at the Concordia Bulldog Invitational, finishing behind Fort Hays State and Midland.
Sophomore Tucker Carpenter took third in the men's individual shootout, junior Austin Hofts was ninth and junior Hunter Gilbertson was 11th, while sophomore Hannah Sears was eighth in the women's individual shootout.
Carpenter, who was third overall, had a total score of 277 by taking second in sporting and 31st in super sporting. Hofts had a score of 266 by placing 12th in sporting and 16th in super sporting to take ninth in the shootout. Gilbertson was eighth in sporting and 22nd in super sporting to place 11th overall.
Also competing for Hastings was senior Tanner Dager (16, score of 260), sophomore Chase Wieczorek (34th, score of 250), senior Kyle Frederick (40nd, score of 248), junior Hayden Thomason (44th with a score of 246), and sophomore Jake Royal (63rd, score of 237).
Sears took eighth in the women's division with a score of 238 was led by a fourth in super sporting and an 11th place finish in sporting. Sophomore Katrice Lyons was 18th in the women's individual shootout at 205 by taking 16th in sporting and 21st in super sporting.
Up next, the Broncos will compete at the Iowa Western CC Reiver Doubles Invitational two-day tournament beginning on Saturday, Mar. 8 in Lincoln, NE.
