Avila Awarded GPAC Defensive Player of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced that Mariyah Avila has been named the Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for November 11-17, 2024.
Avila stuffed the stat sheet in both wins during the week with terrific defensive numbers. In 41 minutes, she had 2 steals and 7 rebounds in their overtime win at Bellevue and had 4 steals and 7 rebounds against Waldorf. For the week she averaged 8.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 3 steals.
Avila and the Broncos will play at Briar Cliff at 2pm on Saturday, November 23rd at the Newman Flanagan Center.
