Men's Soccer Picks Up Draw With No. 20 Concordia
Hastings, NE – The Hastings College men's soccer was able to come away with a 1-1 draw with No. 20 Concordia on Saturday evening out on Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Bulldogs came out quick and tried to make a statement as this was one of the few times they have showed up to this contest as the favorite scoring just six minutes into the contest. Carter Hinman sent a cross into the box where Slade Leicht put it into the net for the 1-0 lead.
But Hastings came right back and took advantage of a Bulldog mistake when they were whistled for a handball in the box giving the Broncos a chance at an equalizer. Nolan Fuelberth was able to stop the penalty kick by Ruben Bande but Lewis Albert was right there for the rebound goal to tie things 1-1 in the 9th minute.
Then the game changed drastically when Concordia's Victor Meneses picked up his second yellow card which mean he was sent off as the Bulldogs now had to play a man down.
Both teams at this point sat back and looked for counter opportunities which were few and far between as this one ended in a 1-1 draw.
CUNE finished with 10 total shots compared to seven for Hastings while the Bulldogs had four shots on goal while Hastings finished with just two.
Jack Howard ended the game with three saves.
Hastings is now 5-6-4 (4-2-3) on the year and will be back in action Wednesday Oct. 18 as Bellevue comes to town with kickoff set for 5:30 pm out on Lloyd Wilson Field.
