
Mustangs Knock Off Broncos 3-2
(Hastings, NE) - The Hastings Broncos men's soccer team started strong, leading 1-0 at halftime, but a second half rally saw the Briar Cliff Chargers win 3-2.
The Broncos scored in the 11th minute of the game, as freshman Tim Berger was on the finishing end of a senior Lewis Bowes assist.
Both teams took four shots in the first half, with Morningside having two shots on goal to Hastings' one, as Hastings took a 1-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Mustang offense took over. They scored a goal in the 50th minute, then followed that up with goals in the 62nd and 65th minute.
Hastings would get a goal back in the 84th minute as freshman Moises Trochez assisted sophomore Ayo Makinde to make it a 3-2 final. The Mustangs took seven shots in the second half to the Broncos' six.
For the game, senior Lewis Albert and junior Juan Arteaga-Lopez led the Broncos with two shot attempts each. Senior goalkeeper Pablo Arce-Salinas finished the game with three saves.
Up next, Hastings will travel to Sioux City, IA to play the Briar Cliff Chargers at 3:30pm on Saturday, September 21.
