
Men's Soccer Closes Out Homecoming Saturday with a Win
(Hastings, NE) – Looking to finish their regular season strong, the Hastings Broncos won 2-0 at home against the Doane Tigers.
Senior Lewis Albert got the Broncos on the board in the first half, coming off of a nice pass from senior Joe Vokins in the 10th minute.
Hastings controlled the first half as they took 14 shots to Doane's six, and six shots on goal to the Tigers' three. Vokins led the team in the first half with six shots, with two of them on goal. Albert took three shots that were all on goal as Hastings led 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, senior Ruben Bande found junior David Hoti for a goal in the 53rd minute, giving Hastings a 2-0 lead that they would hold to win the match.
For the game, the Broncos outshot Doane 22-12 and 8-6 on shots on goal. Vokins' six shots led the team, along with the three from Albert, and another three from freshman Moises Trochez. Sophomore Ethan Watkins and senior Pablo Arce-Salinas each had three saves in the half that they played at goalkeeper.
Up next, Hastings will await their first round opponent in the GPAC Tournament where they hope to make a big run.
