
Graceland Holds on to Defeat Men's Soccer
(Hastings, Nebraska) – The Hastings Broncos made their home debut looking to rebound after their opening defeat. They ultimately fell 2-1 against the Graceland Yellowjackets.
The Yellowjackets struck first, scoring in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead. They added another goal in the 40th minute, increasing the lead to 2-0 just before halftime.
In the first half Graceland led the Broncos in total shots, 8-6, and shots on goal, 6-4. Senior Lewis Bowes finished the first half with the team lead in shots with two, with one on goal. Junior Juan Arteaga-Lopez contributed four saves in the half.
Hastings got on the board in the 76th minute on a penalty kick, as Juan Arteaga-Lopez knocked it past the Graceland goalkeeper to cut the lead to 2-1.
Hastings finished the game with 14 shots to the Yellowjackets' 15, with Graceland having eight shots on goal compared to Hastings' seven. Freshman Tim Berger led the team in shots with five, followed by Bowes with three (two shots on goal), and Arteaga-Lopez with two.
