Hastings Holds Off Tabor 1-0

(Hastings, NE) - In the final event of the Hastings Saturday homestand, the Broncos defeated the Tabor Bluejays, 1-0.

Hastings scored the lone goal of the first half in the 42nd minute when junior Juan Arteaga-Lopez connected with sophomore Wade McWhorter for a goal to take a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

While both teams had two shots on goal, Hastings held the first half edge with six total shots compared to three shots for Tabor, as well as a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.

In the second half, Hastings kept the ball in their offensive zone most of the way, taking eight shots to Tabor's three. The Broncos were unable to score, but held their 1-0 lead to close out the win over the Bluejays.

Freshman Tim Berger and senior Ruben Bande led the Broncos with four shots and three shots, respectively, with both players registering a shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ethan Watkins saved both opportunities for the Broncos.

Up next, Hastings will begin their conference slate on Wednesday, September 18th with a home match against Morningside at 8pm.
