
Broncos and Warriors Match Ends in 2-2 Draw
(Hastings, NE) - On a cool Wednesday evening, the Hastings Broncos tied 2-2 with the Midland Warriors.
Senior Allison Seery scored the lone goal in the first half in the ninth minute after her first shot was blocked, but the ball bounced back to her and she kicked it past the Warrior goalkeeper to go up 1-0.
The Broncos outshot the Warriors 9-3 in the first half, including 6-0 on shots on goal. Seery led the team with three shots, all of which were on goal. Senior Dekota Schubert also attempted three shots in the half.
Hastings struck first in the second half on a goal from senior Sara Pedroza that was assisted by Seery in the 48th minute, but Midland responded in the 63rd minute with a goal to trim the lead to 2-1.
Midland tied the game at two on a short free kick. Hastings had a couple of scoring chances late, including a shot from freshman Payton Tanner that hit the crossbar after a terrific setup pass from Schubert in the 87th minute that kept the game at 2-2.
Hastings controlled the game offensively, taking 23 shots to the Warriors' eight, including 14-3 with shots on goal. Schubert had six shot attempts, while Seery and senior Dulce Lopez each had four shots.
Up next, Hastings will travel to Sioux Center, IA to play Dordt at 2pm on Saturday, Oct. 19.
