Drovers Prevail 3-2 Over Broncos
(Hastings, NE) – Trying to extend their win-streak to four games, the #23 Hastings Broncos fell 3-2 to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers on Saturday.
The Broncos opened the scoring with a terrific corner kick pass from junior Megan Lampe to senior Dekota Schubert to take a 1-0 lead.
The Drovers, who received votes in the most recent NAIA poll, scored two goals in the span of just over two minutes to take a 2-1 halftime lead. USAO took six shots in the first half compared to five for Hastings.
In the second half, Hastings got another goal on a corner kick from Lampe, this time assisting junior Millie Gell to tie it up at 2 in the 50th minute. Senior goalkeeper Jackson Pedersen later made a couple of fantastic saves to keep the game tied.
USAO scored the go-ahead goal in the 76th minute to secure the 3-2 win for the Drovers. For the game, the Drovers outshot the Broncos 16-8 and 13-5 on shots on goal.
Schubert, senior Dulce Lopez, and freshman Madison Rhodes led the Broncos with two shot attempts each, while Pedersen had 10 saves.
