
Miller Moves into 5th All-Time in School History for Digs in Win
(Hastings, NE) - In what was a 3-0 straight set win over Waldorf (30-28, 25-23, 26-24), senior Miriam Miller entered the top five for digs in school history with 1,955.
Hastings held a steady lead in the first set, including a 20-16 lead late in the set, but Waldorf rattled off five straight points to take a 21-20 lead and forced a Hastings timeout. The teams battled the rest of the set, but Hastings prevailed 30-28 with freshman Mikah O'Neill ending the set with a kill.
The second set was also favorable for the Broncos for most of the way, as they held 19-14. Waldorf got to within one at 21-20 and 24-23, but a Warrior attacking error gave Hastings the second set, 25-23.
Hastings led 12-9 in the third set, but Waldorf rallied to take a 15-14 lead. The teams' differential was within two the rest of the set and with the Warriors holding a 24-23 lead at set point, the Broncos won three straight points on a Waldorf service error, and back-to-back kills from freshman Makenna Sutter and O'Neill.
Senior Majesta Valsek had a team-high 14 kills, along with 13 kills each from Sutter and O'Neill. Junior Alexis Pontine had 43 assists and Miller had 35 digs in her record-breaking afternoon.
Hastings have a week off until they travel to Sioux City, IA to play Briar Cliff on Saturday, October 19 at 3pm.
