Men’s Golf Has Strong Showing, Finishes 4th out of 24 at 2024 NAIA Fall Preview
(Silvis, Illinois) - It was a very strong week for the Hastings College Men's Golf Team. With a strong field including the defending GPAC Champions Northwestern College, the Men's Golf team held their heads high and finished with a very steady 4th place as a team. They were 5 total team shots out of a podium and bested rival Doane by 12 total team strokes (17 on the second day alone).
Things started off shaky with a 19-over (303) in the first round. However, they bounced back nicely with a respectable 8-over (292) in the second round. Freshman Blake Eddy led the way, and while he did get off to a slow start with a 7-over (78), he bounced back nicely with a 1-under (70) finishing a strong T-13 out of 120 total golfers. Senior Gabriel Escalera (74-75) and junior Henry Kosmicki (76-73) both finished strong at T-21.
In addition, junior Ryker Dunkley (76-74) finished T-27 and junior Max Nielsen (77-77) finished T-38. Win or lose, the Men's Golf team got great experience and strong recognition on a course that is an annual host of the PGA Tour tournament, the John Deere Classic.
The next stop is defending their home golf course, Lochland Country Club, for the Nebraska Men's Intercollegiate Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. Come out to support!
