
Escalera Finishes Runner-Up at GPAC; Team Takes 2nd
(Beatrice, NE) - The Hastings College men's golf team competed at the GPAC Championship this Monday and Tuesday at the Beatrice Country Club. The Broncos placed second out of 11 teams competing with +25 overall, marking the best finish in school history since joining the GPAC.
Senior Gabriel Escalera finished five under after the 54 holes to finish runner-up, tying the best finish in Hastings history at the GPAC Tournament since 2015. He finished second overall, only two strokes behind first place with his best round being -3. His top 10 finish earned him a spot on the GPAC All-Tournament Team.
Junior Henry Kosmicki finished +7 placing him in the top 20 with his best round being -1, finishing 12th. Freshman Blake Eddy also played all three rounds going +15 to take 24th.
Junior Nicolas Silva competeted in round one and round three of the tournament where he finished +7. Junior Max Nielsen competed in the second and third round where he finished +9.
The Broncos had an impressive finish to their spring season and now await the NAIA's postseason qualifying announcement for the National Tournament.
