
Escalera Wins Maverick Invite by Four Strokes; Men's Golf Finishes 2nd at Faribault
Faribault, MN – The Hastings College men's golf team opened its 2023 campaign with a second place finish at the Maverick Invitational this past Tuesday and Wednesday.
Gabriel Escalera went on to with the individual title with a seven under 137. He came out and fired a four under 68 on day one and backed it up with a three under 69 on day two to win the tournament by four strokes.
Minnesota State then took the next six spots and claimed first place with a team total of 569 which was seven under for the entire tournament. Hastings finished in second with a team total of 586 which was ten over par for the tournament.
Rob Noffsinger was the next top finisher for the Broncos with a two day total of 151 which was good enough for a tie for 13th place. His best round was round one where he fired an even par 72.
Ryan Burns and Cullen Buscher each finished tied for 15th with a two day total of 152. Burns' best day was day one where he shot a one over 73 while Buscher fired a 75 on day one.
Alejandro Prada finished 31st with a two day total of 159 while Jaydon Rogers finished tied for 33rd with a two day total of 161.
Hastings will be back in action Sept. 5-6 taking part in the Blue River Classic at the Highlands Golf Club in Lincoln, NE.
