Hoeflich Highlights Broncos' Battle at the Missouri Valley Open

(Marshall, MO) – Competing in their first event in almost two weeks, the women's wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley Open on Friday and Saturday.

Junior Lisa Hoeflich had a great performance at 145, as she won three of her final four matches after dropping her first match. Her first win was a 10-0 technical fall over Lindenwood, then she pinned the #10-ranked woman in the country for her second win. She pinned her next opponent in just over a minute before losing to Grand View in her fourth consolation match.

Freshman Izzy Deeds also had a good performance at 145. After losing her first match, Deeds defeated Iowa Central on a 10-0 technical fall, then pinned her Iowa Lakes opponent one minute into the match. She then defeated her Colorado Mesa opponent in a 14-2 technical fall before losing her fourth consolation match.

Freshman Brooke Schilke was the lone Bronco to win their first non-bye match, pinning her opponent from Carl Albert at the 4:14 mark at 160. She lost her second match, but responded by defeating Friends on a 14-4 technical fall. She added one more win at the open, winning 6-2 over Ottawa.

Junior Taylor Rickley lost her first match in a tight 4-2 decision at 207, but regrouped nicely to go 2-1 on the consolation side. She pinned her Central College opponent two minutes into the match, then won 8-0 over Lindenwood before losing her final match. Junior Rayleigh Guyer was also able to pick up a 8-2 decision win in the consolation round at 110.

Up next, the Broncos will compete at 9am on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Conner/Oppenheim Open in Crete, NE.
