Women's Track and Field Finishes With Five All-Americans and Places 7th

Marion, IN – The Hastings College women's track and field team picked a great time to pick up many personal best performances on their way to a 7th place finish at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past week. Hastings finished tied with Olivet Nazarene in 7th with 27 total points and was the highest finishing team out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

 

Kiara Anderson led the way as she earned three more All-American honors following her phenomenal performance at the GPAC Championships. After being named the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year, Anderson saved her best for last.

 

Anderson started the championships in the Hammer as she once again broke her own school record              and also became the first in school history to throw over 60m as she finished second with a toss of 60.83m which was just shy of 200 feet. She earned her second All-American honor in the shot put by placing sixth with a throw of 14.20m. Anderson then earned her third All-American honor of the meet by placing third in the Discus breaking yet another school record with a throw of 49.78m. At the end of the day, she earned 16 points for the Lady Broncos.

 

Veronica Pinkerton would also end her career on a high note as she first broke the school record once again in the 800m run during prelims in a time of 2:09.38. Pinkerton would then finish in 3rd in the finals in a time of 2:10.89 to garner All-American honors as well.

 

Jaida Rowe would also make her presence felt as she earned All-American honors in the 400m hurdles with a life time best time of 1:00.81.
