Men's Track and Field Places 8th at GPAC
Orange City, IA – The Hastings College men's track and field team competed at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday as the Broncos went on to place eighth with 28 team points. Each Bronco that finished in the top eight earned All-Conference honors.
Samuel Wise brought home gold in the 5000m race walk in a GPAC meet record time and school record time of 26:00.03. Adrien Kendall finished fifth in a time of 30:24.55
Norman Smith finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 48.67m.
Rafer Severson finished fourth in the Decathlon with 5792 points. He finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.20, third in the shot put with a mark of 10.82m, third in the 400m in a time of 52.30 and finished first in the pole vault with a height of 4.20m.
Brady Creech placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.97m
Brian Clausen went on to place sixth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 56.01.
Tyler Salter placed sixth in the 800m run in a time of 1:56.31.
Tatum Jelleberg would go on to finish sixth in the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 9:55.69.
The HC 4x800m relay team consisting of Salter, Clausen, Luke Leweandowski and Deshawn Burks finished fifth in a time of 8:05.31
The Hastings College 4x100m relay team consisting of Noah Hudnall, Clausen, Aaron Ochsner and Severson finished eighth in a time of 43.89.
The Bronco 4x400m relay team consisting of Clausen, Severson, Ochsner and Salter finished eighth in a time of 3:28.46.
Hastings will now try and add a few more national qualifiers at the Concordia Twilight May 10 in Seward, NE and or the Loper Last Chance May 11 in Kearney, NE.
