Bio

Merritt is entering his second year as the Broncos Defensive Secondary Coach. He took over the role of recruiting coordinator after the 2021 season. Merritt has 5 years of coaching experience in the Defensive Secondary. 

Merritt earned his bachelor's degree in History from Doane University in 2018. He played 4 years at Doane under Head Coach Matt Franzen and was a Student Assistant for one season. He played on two playoff qualifying teams in 2015 and 2016. After graduation he continued his education and earned his Masters Degree in Adult Organizational Learning from Midland University in December of 2020 where he served as the Safeties Coach. 

Originally from Fort Lupton, Colorado, Merritt has family ties in Western Nebraska and Colorado.
