Bronco Baseball Falls at Bellevue
(Omaha, NE) – The Bellevue Bruins had a great day at the plate by plating 17 runs on 18 hits to win, 17-4, on Saturday.
Bellevue scored in the first inning on a double to go up 1-0, but Hastings responded the next half inning with an RBI-single from senior Alliskair Descartes, scoring senior Elijah Merritt, who had reached base on a fielder's choice, to tie it at one.
The Bruins scored the next 11 runs with two in the third, a six-run fourth that included two solo home runs, two runs in the fifth, and one more in the sixth.
Hastings broke the scoring run with a solo home run from senior Mason Masur, who led the team with two hits on the day. Bellevue managed to score three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to go up 17-2.
The Broncos got two runs in the top of the ninth with freshman Jordin Albertson doubling in senior Dylan Otto, who singled to begin the inning. Alberton took third on a wild pitch and scored on a second wild pitch by the Bruins.
Up next, Hastings will travel back to Ottawa, KS to complete the four-game seriers with the Braves that was postponed on Thursday due to weather. The first game will begin at 12pm.
