Women's Soccer Blows Out Warriors, 7-0
(Forest City, IA) – The women's soccer team traveled to take on the Waldorf Warriors on Saturday. Hastings scored three first half goals, eventually winning 7-0.
Hastings got on the board in the second minute on an assisted goal from junior Madie Miles, who kicked it through from about 20 yards out to go up 1-0. In the ninth minute, Miles connected with sophomore Madison Rhodes for a goal that put Hastings up 2-0.
Miles added a second goal in the opening half on a 30-yard kick off of a pass from sophomore Sabrina DeHart in the 20th minute. Hastings took 18 shots in the first half without allowing a shot for Waldorf as they went up 3-0 at the break.
Rhodes scored her second goal of the match in the 50th minute off the feed of sophomore Payton Tanner to go up 4-0. Sophomore Sophia Lee scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 61st minute, putting Hastings up 5-0.
Hastings tack on a couple of more goals late, as junior Kailani Smile scored in the 83rd minute and sophomore Cora Derby scored off of a pass from freshman Sofia Rabinovitz in the 86th minute, as the Broncos took the 7-0 win.
The Broncos outshot the Warriors 41-1 and had 24 shots on goal. Rhodes took a team-high nine shots, with seven of them on goal. Lee attempted four shots, while Miles, Derby, and junior Keyah Hahn took three shots each. Freshman Autumn Button got the start at goalie, saving her only opportunity in the win.
Up next, Hastings will host Concordia on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8pm.
