Women's Soccer Stays Undefeated With 1-0 Win Over Tabor
Hillsboro, KS – The Hastings College women's soccer team was able to stay undefeated with its 1-0 victory over Tabor on Saturday afternoon.
Just as Hastings did in its 1-0 win over Baker, the Lady Broncos dominated the game but struggled to put the ball past Bluejay keeper Hayley Bench. Bench turned the Hastings offense away nine different times but all it took was one.
That came in the 23rd minute when Michaela Fox sent a long ball to a streaking Naomi Pedroza as she made her way towards goal. She hit her shot low and it bounced off the upright and into the net for the 1-0 lead.
Hastings continued to pepper shots on goal only to see Bench keep turning them back. The offense was able to keep the pressure on as the Hastings back line gave up just two total shots with one of them being on goal that Jackson Pedersen was easily able to save.
The Lady Broncos were able to get one more shot past Bench in the 73rd minute only to see Dulce Lopez's shot bounce back into play off the crossbar.
Hastings went on to finish the game with 16 shots with 10 of them being on goal.
After finishing the early non-conference schedule 5-0, Hastings now begins Great Plains Athletic Conference action welcoming Dakota Wesleyan to town Saturday Sept. 16 with kickoff set for 8:00 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
